MyEcho, the entrepreneurial idea from the Biorobotics Institute that proposes solutions to standardise ultrasound procedures, was awarded the Startime prize at the 'Borsa della Ricerca 2022'

MyEcho, an entrepreneurial idea developed by the BioRobotics Institute, Sant'Anna School, has been awarded the Startime prize at the 'Borsa della Ricerca 2022', the annual matchmaking event organised in Salerno by the Emblema Foundation (from 4 to 6 October) to promote the meeting between research, industry and investors. 

MyEcho is the idea developed by a group from the BioRobotics Institute formed by associate professor Leonardo Ricotti, assistant professor Andrea Cafarelli, post-doc Angela Sorriento and Francesco Restaino and Giorgia Marola. MyEcho proposes technical solutions that enable unqualified personnel to acquire ultrasound data, promoting remote diagnosis and accelerating recovery times. The idea stems from methods developed within the European project ADMAIORA coordinated by Leonardo Ricotti, which aims at a new treatment for osteoarthritis. 

"MyEcho," explains Angela Sorriento, "aims to introduce onto the market technical solutions that simplify the procedures for acquiring ultrasound data, to make ultrasound scans accessible even to non-experts and at a distance".


Borsa della Ricerca: the meeting point of ideas and entrepreneurship

The 2022 Research Exchange took place in Salerno from 4 to 6 October and was attended by more than 100 university delegations from 14 regions and 60 national and multinational companies. The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna participated in the initiative with JoTTO, the joint technology transfer office with Scuola IMT Alti Studi Lucca and Scuola Normale Superiore.
In addition to MyEcho, another future business idea also developed by a research group from the Institute of BioRobotics was presented, Action Potential Neurotechnologies, an implantable device capable of helping patients recover complex and coordinated hand movements.
